JOB MISSION
The Product Engineering Intern at HwIT plays a key operational role in supporting the integrity, organization, and standardization of our product data. Working closely with Product Engineers and RD designers, the intern will act as the operational engine for Component Lifecycle Management (CLM). The mission is to clean up Bills of Materials (BOMs) for the critical projects, maintain structural databases in product system, track engineering changes, and support operational transition from prototypes to scalable production.
SCOPE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. BOM Scrub
- Gap Analysis Support: Inspect raw BOMs extracted from RD to identify missing data, generic descriptions, or incomplete Manufacturer Part Numbers (MPNs). Interface actively with developers to obtain commercial part numbers and technical specifications for empty fields.
- BOM Versioning: Maintain structured control with clean, complete baselines for projects in the Alpha and Beta development phases.
2. Product Traceability and Versioning
- System Data Entry: Register newly approved electronic and optical components (MPNs) in the database, ensuring complete description, manufacturer name, unit, and fiscal data (NCM).
- BOM Tree Assembly: Input multi-level BOM structures for active projects in product system, linking components to their respective designators and quantities.
- JIRA Workflow Management: Register and update Engineering Change Notice (ECN) and Supplier PCN tickets in Jira, moving them through the workflow and ensuring all required fields are filled.
- Confluence Documentation: Update product documentation and maintain versioning control.
3. Inventory, Assembly Process Capacity Support
- Inventory Auditing: Perform physical-to-system stock level audits for components, correcting entries in system.
- Assembly Documentation Support: Support the documentation of assembly processes, assisting in the creation and revision of work instructions (WI), assembly flowcharts, and process layouts.
- Capacity Flow Analysis: Assist in analyzing assembly process flows and tracking capacity metrics, including cycle times, process step yields, and bottleneck identification.
- Engineering Feedback: Support regular time studies and audits on pilot assembly lines to gather real process times and yields, using this data to feed back and engineering and product models. Assist in collecting data from pilot line assembly runs, tracking component issues, and collecting feedback from operators.
- Troubleshooting: Support troubleshooting and yields improvement action plans in pilot lines, as well as inputs for PFMEA, Waterfall charts, and 8D reports.
