About the role
We are looking for a Lead Full Stack Engineer to drive end-to-end application engineering for a data analytics platform, acting as the primary gatekeeper for code quality and architecture across containerized Python workers, an LLM orchestration layer running through AWS Bedrock, and a React frontend built natively into an existing component library. You will govern strict static typing across Python and TypeScript, own the architectural approach for synthesizing data from YouTube and Google Trends APIs through an S3/Glue/Athena pipeline, and set the standard for responsible AI-assisted development using Claude Code.
What you will do
- Code Governance: Review all PRs and enforce code quality standards — including strict static typing discipline across both Python and TypeScript — preventing "spaghetti code" and scope creep.
- System Architecture: Design and deploy containerized applications and REST APIs, including the Python worker architecture (RQ/Celery + Redis) running on EKS.
- Data Orchestration Oversight: Own the architectural approach for synthesizing disparate sources (YouTube Data/Creator APIs, Google Trends, GQV via MMM Data Hub) into Kepler's S3/Glue/Athena pipeline.
- AI Integration Governance: Guide the design of the Claude/Gemini scoring orchestration layer, ensuring all model access routes strictly through AWS Bedrock in line with Kepler's mandate.
- Framework Alignment: Ensure front-end work is built natively into Kepler's mesh-ts React framework and existing Storybook component library, rather than around it.
- Infrastructure & Security Partnership: Drive conversations with DevOps and platform teams across GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Atlantis, and Terraform/Kubernetes IaC, and on the Auth0 / OpenFGA (ReBAC) / internal RBAC library security model.
- Team Leadership: Guide senior developers and ensure alignment with Kepler's internal engineering practices.
Must haves
- 7+ years of full-stack engineering experience with a strong track record of architectural ownership.
- Strong production Python — FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, and modern tooling (uv), with static typing applied consistently rather than selectively.
- Strong TypeScript/React, including Next.js.
- Comfortable designing and consuming REST APIs, and integrating third-party/external APIs at scale.
- Experience with containerized workloads and asynchronous task processing (Celery, RQ, or comparable) backed by Redis.
- Working familiarity with Kubernetes/EKS and object-storage-backed data lakes queried via serverless engines (S3/Glue/Athena or equivalent) — enough to drive DevOps conversations and reason about how data reaches the application. Hands-on pipeline authorship not required.
- Experience integrating LLMs into production applications via a managed platform (AWS Bedrock preferred; comparable experience acceptable if the compliance-boundary thinking transfers).
- Exposure to IaC and GitOps-style deployment pipelines (Terraform, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or comparable).
- Highly comfortable in Mac/Linux terminal-centric environments.
- Practical, hands-on use of AI-assisted development tools — specifically Claude Code, which this project mandates be pointed at AWS Bedrock — paired with the critical judgment to challenge AI output when it compromises long-term maintainability, including the leadership presence to set the standard for how the team uses AI tooling responsibly (e.g., flagging risky AI-driven shortcuts during PR review).
- Strong soft skills (mandatory, not a bonus): the ability to hold and defend a technical opinion — challenging a stakeholder's or a tool's proposed "quick fix" with sound reasoning in pursuit of a solution that scales and is maintainable long-term, while still being pragmatic enough to ship.
Nice to haves
- Direct experience with AWS Bedrock, Glue, or Athena specifically.
- Familiarity with Auth0, OpenFGA/ReBAC, or fine-grained authorization models generally.
- Experience with bun, or with modern JS runtimes/package managers beyond the Node default.
- Design-system or component-library ownership experience (Storybook, tokenization, Figma-to-code workflows).
- Experience with YouTube/creator-economy APIs, Google Trends, or digital advertising data structures.
Perks and benefits
- Growth without limits: build your skills through mentorship, internal TechTalks, challenging projects, and a dedicated annual learning budget
- Competitive compensation: get recognition that reflects your skills and impact, with regular performance and compensation reviews
- Flexibility: work 100% remotely with flexible hours that support focus, autonomy, and a healthy work rhythm
