About the role
The Senior Data Engineer is a technical leadership role responsible for architecting complex data solutions and driving engineering excellence across the team. This position combines deep technical expertise with mentoring responsibilities and strategic thinking about data platform evolution. Senior Data Engineers lead high-impact projects, establish technical standards, and serve as subject matter experts in advanced data engineering concepts. They design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and modern lakehouse architectures leveraging Microsoft Fabric and related cloud technologies, enabling robust, high-performing, and future-ready data platforms. They work closely with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Success is measured by technical impact, team development contributions, platform stability improvements, and thought leadership within the organization.
Key Job Accountabilities
Lead design and implementation of complex, enterprise-scale data solutions
Architect scalable data pipelines using advanced Microsoft Fabric and Databricks features and optimization techniques
Drive technical standards and best practices across the data engineering team
Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
Design and implement real-time streaming data solutions using Azure Event Hubs and Stream Analytics
Lead performance tuning initiatives for data warehouse and processing systems
Mentor team members and lead technical training sessions
Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools for the data platform
Qualifications/Requirements
5-7 years of progressive experience in data engineering
Expert-level knowledge of SQL Server, Azure SQL, and query optimization
Advanced experience with Microsoft Fabric, Databricks (Delta Lake, MLflow, Unity Catalog), Apache Spark
Proficient in multiple programming languages (Python, Scala, SQL, PowerShell)
Deep understanding of Azure data services ecosystem
Experience with Microsoft Fabric (Data Factory, Synapse, Power BI, Data Activator)
Knowledge of advanced data modeling techniques and data vault methodology
Experience with microservices architecture and API development
Understanding of machine learning pipeline integration
Strong background in data governance, security, and compliance frameworks
