We are seeking a nearshore Java Full Stack Engineering Manager to build and support commerce backend services and AI-driven/agentic checkout capabilities. You will lead delivery across Java/Spring Boot services and React UI components while ensuring reliability and compliance—apply to help shape secure, scalable checkout experiences.
Responsibilities

Lead design and delivery of backend services for payment, loyalty, promotions, and other commerce systems

Build and maintain Java/Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs that support checkout workflows

Enable AI-driven and agentic checkout flows with validations, guardrails, and backend integrations

Develop and support ReactJS front-end components needed for checkout experiences

Ensure scalability, reliability, security, and compliance across services and integrations
-
Coordinate technical decisions, code quality practices, and delivery standards across the team

Collaborate with stakeholders during US Pacific Time overlap to plan, execute, and troubleshoot delivery
Requirements

7+ years backend development experience with Java and Spring Boot

7+ years experience building REST APIs and microservices

Practical production experience with Anthropic Claude Code

Lead-level technical leadership experience guiding engineering delivery

Commerce domain experience supporting payments, loyalty, and promotions

Cloud platform experience with GCP and/or Azure

Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new tools and patterns

Strong collaboration skills working across backend and frontend needs

US Pacific Time overlap availability until at least 4pm PST

Upper-Intermediate English proficiency (B2, Upper-Intermediate)
