Position Overview:
The primary role of Software Program Manager includes overseeing embedded software project development from start to finish to deliver software on time, of high quality, in compliance with industry standards such as ISO 26262, and in alignment with the hardware development schedules of the associated products. In a matrixed environment, this role will lead a program team of controls and software developers across the globe through clear and concise communication, goal setting and demonstrating good decision making amongst project ambiguity. Collaborating across time zones and engineering stakeholders to align program schedules and dependencies to create a master software plan. In addition, this role will be responsible for project proposal/timing estimations for new project or RFQ activity.
In this function you will:
- Define project scope, work breakdown structure (WBS), and detailed milestone schedules synchronized with internal/external milestones
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for OEM customers. Lead steering committee meetings and manage internal/external expectations
- Proactively identify technical, resource and timing risks. Develop mitigation plans and escalate critical path issues to executive leadership when necessary
- Ensure all software work products meet industry standards, specifically ASPICE (Automotive SPICE) and ISO26262 (Functional Safety)
- Organize and facilitate Scrum ceremonies (Daily standups, Sprint Planning, Retrospective) within a traditionally Waterfall automotive environment
- Evaluate and negotiate software change requests from the customer, ensuring impacts on budget and timing are accounted for and quoted
- Synchronize software deliveries with hardware samples, testing (HiL, SiL) and manufacturing requirements
- Serve as the central nexus for all project-related communication, expertly balancing the competing priorities of external OEM customers, internal cross-functional team, and executive leadership
- Drive the continuous optimization of automotive software development lifecycles (SDLC) and project management methodologies by identifying systemic bottlenecks and implementing scalable improvements across internal and external workflows
- Partner directly with Scrum Masters and Product Owners to synchronize high-level project milestones with granular sprint execution
