Summary

Support the design, coordination, and documentation of commercial HVAC systems using Building Information Modeling (BIM) software. This position works closely with project managers, engineers, field personnel, and other trades to produce accurate, coordinated models and shop drawings for commercial construction projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop HVAC coordination drawings using Revit MEP and AutoCAD.
Perform clash detection and coordination using Navisworks.
Coordinate HVAC systems with structural, plumbing, and electrical trades.
Produce ductwork and piping layouts for commercial construction projects.
Maintain and update BIM models throughout all phases of a project.
Create detailed shop drawings for field installation.
Participate in virtual and on-site coordination meetings.
Collaborate with project managers and field staff to resolve design issues.
Interpret mechanical plans, specifications, and project documentation.
Perform additional BIM and drafting tasks as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

Minimum of 2 years of BIM, drafting, HVAC, or MEP experience.
Proficiency with Revit MEP required.
Experience with AutoCAD.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Associate’s degree or trade certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

Strong working knowledge of Revit MEP.
Experience using Navisworks for clash detection.
Understanding of SMACNA and ASHRAE standards.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical construction drawings.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong communication and coordination abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Willingness to work collaboratively with office and field personnel.

Distinguishing Characteristics

Produces accurate BIM models and construction documentation for commercial HVAC projects.
Coordinates directly with multiple construction disciplines to minimize field conflicts.
Supports fabrication, prefabrication, and installation teams through high-quality modeling and shop drawings.
Assists project teams in improving coordination, reducing field conflicts, and increasing construction efficiency through BIM technology.

Conditions of Employment

MUST pass a pre-employment drug test.
Possess a VALID Driver’s License.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Primarily office-based with occasional visits to active construction sites.
May require travel to project sites for coordination meetings and field verification.
Requires prolonged periods of computer work using BIM and CAD software.
Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds and safely navigate active construction environments while wearing required personal protective equipment.
