Role Description
This is a month-to-month contract role for a Portuguese and English Bilingual LQA Specialist, for the project we estimate to last approximately 6 months. The role involves conducting linguistic quality assurance (LQA) tests for gaming content, identifying and rectifying translation errors, and ensuring linguistic accuracy and cultural relevance in Portuguese and English, ensuring consistency in the use of terminology across game mechanics, in-game items, storyline elements, and related materials. This position will assess text placement within the user interface and make linguistic adjustments where necessary to accommodate language expansion or contraction. The specialist will collaborate with the QA team and other departments when relevant, offering linguistic or localization support to facilitate overall project quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Review translated content to ensure linguistic accuracy, fluency, and correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Evaluate localized content within its context to ensure it is culturally appropriate and engaging for Brazilian Portuguese players.
- Maintain consistency of terminology across game systems, items, story elements, and related materials.
- Review text implementation within the game interface and suggest linguistic adjustments when necessary.
- Collaborate with QA, localization, and project teams to support overall product quality.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in game localization, linguistic review, localization testing, or quality assurance.
- Native-level Brazilian Portuguese proficiency.
- Professional working proficiency in English.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office applications and online collaboration tools.
- Be able to translate minimum of 2000 words/day and/or to review/edit 5000 words/day
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with linguistic quality assurance and localization testing.
- Strong proofreading and editing skills.
- Knowledge of gaming terminology and localization best practices.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Translation, Languages, or a related field.
- Spanish and/or Korean language skills are considered an advantage.
