- Take full responsibility forfixed asset control: monitor the entire lifecycle of fixed assets, including acquisition, depreciation, maintenance, and disposal; conduct regular fixed asset audits to ensure alignment between physical assets and accounting records, and maintain accurate fixed asset ledgers in compliance with Brazilian accounting standards (IFRS) and local regulations (RFB, CPC).
- Oversee inventory control: manage raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods inventory; implement inventory counting procedures, analyze inventory variances, optimize inventory turnover, and ensure inventory valuation is accurate and in line with accounting principles, reducing inventory waste and cost losses.
- Perform comprehensive cost accounting: calculate product costs (including direct materials, labor, and manufacturing overhead) using appropriate methods; conduct cost analysis, identify cost-saving opportunities, prepare cost reports, and provide data support for management decision-making regarding pricing, production optimization, and budget control.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, procurement, warehouse) to gather financial data, resolve accounting discrepancies, and ensure the integration of financial and operational processes.
- Assist in month-end and year-end financial closing processes related to cost accounting, prepare relevant financial statements and reports, and support external audits by providing accurate and complete cost accounting documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all Brazilian financial regulations and accounting standards, including those related to CRC professional practice, and stay updated on changes in local tax and accounting policies (such as ICMS, PIS/COFINS) that may impact cost accounting practices.
Job Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or above in Accounting or a related field. A bachelor’s degree in Accounting is mandatory to be eligible for CRC certification in Brazil.
- Certification: Valid CRC (Conselho Regional de Contabilidade) certification is required. The CRC certification, issued by the regional council under the supervision of CFC (Conselho Federal de Contabilidade), is mandatory for practicing accounting in Brazil and demonstrates professional competence in local accounting standards and regulations.
- Work Experience: Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience as a Cost Accountant, preferably in a manufacturing/factory environment. Experience in fixed asset control, inventory management, and cost calculation is essential; familiarity with factory operations will be an advantage.
- Language Skills: Fluent in English (written and spoken) – able to communicate effectively in English for work reports, cross-border coordination, and documentation. Proficiency in Portuguese is preferred (for daily communication with local teams and compliance with local regulations).
- Professional Skills: Proficient in cost accounting principles and methods; familiar with Brazilian accounting standards (IFRS) and local financial regulations; able to use accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or local Brazilian accounting systems) and advanced Excel functions for data analysis and report preparation.
- Personal Qualities: Detail-oriented, highly responsible, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced factory environment; adherence to professional ethics and commitment to accuracy and compliance.
