The role supports the global Planning & Scheduling function across portfolio and project lifecycles—concept through execution—to enable confident investment decisions, competitive bids, and budget governance. Supports the development of standards, tools, and processes for consistent Level 1–4 schedules with internal and external resources, drive calibration via historical data and benchmarks, and partner with Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure schedules are robust, transparent, and auditable.
How You Will Make an Impact:
- Coordinates with Project Development Managers and Project Managers to develop and implement schedule management plans for individual projects to identify what types of schedules will be developed, the format of the schedule, who will be develop and manage the schedule. Coordinates with the Project Manager to integrate Advanced Work Packaging, procurement activities, and site activities into the schedule. These plans can be standalone documents or included as a section in the project execution plan or project controls plan.
- Develops top-down schedules using computer software, analogous projects, and scaling/parameters. Develops written schedule basis with each schedule. Coordinates with project development teams to identify and deliver schedule input deliverables and communicates the schedule and basis to project teams and other stakeholders.
- Supports project teams in the evaluation and selection of engineering contractors for their capability to develop and manage schedules. Supports project teams and engineering contractors to identify schedule and schedule basis requirements. Supports the project manager in reviewing schedules developed by engineering contractors.
- Evaluates accuracy of schedules between phases and at the completion of a capital project. Identifies functional lessons learned from individual project schedules and identifies trends that apply to the portfolio. Makes recommendations to the project support services director on how to improve functional capability. Manages and tracks scheduling KPIs and then develops and execute plans to continuously improve the planning & scheduling function.
- Responsible for ensuring schedule data and benchmarking are properly maintained and utilized to improve the planning & scheduling function from the speed and accuracy point of view.
- Establish cost normalization and reference level baselines; maintain parametric models for early-phase scheduling.
What You Will Bring To Cabot:
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience at a senior level with all disciplines of project controls and an understanding of current industry best practices.
- General knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes and facility construction both US domestically as well as globally.
- Ability to lead in a fast-paced matrix environment leveraging capabilities through outsourced organizations.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
- Strong communicator both verbally and in writing; ability to present technical information in simple, non-technical terms.
- Strong computer skills and fluency in utilizing various databases containing estimating tools, data, factors, and other project estimating related information or software.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s/University degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Project Management or equivalent experience or related combination of experience.
- 5+ years in planning and scheduling within EPC / industrial / manufacturing / capital projects or complex engineered products; global or multi-site experience is a plus.
