Guardian Glass South America is hiring a Mechanical Project Engineer to manage strategic capital projects and complex mechanical design development. This role will lead cross-functional project teams to implement capital improvements that meet business objectives. The position is accountable for project planning, design development, and execution - including creation of schedules, cost estimates, and scopes of work - and will lead mechanical design reviews on site and drive actions for execution. We are looking for someone who can manage multiple projects in various phases safely and on time, anticipate and challenge situations, solve problems, remove roadblocks, and make sound recommendations.
Our Team
You will work with cross-functional project teams including engineers, operations, construction, and vendors, supporting plant operation and reliability initiatives. The role collaborates across disciplines to ensure projects meet safety, environmental, construction, operational, and reliability requirements.
What You Will Do

Manage multiple capital projects using a phased approach to ensure the quality and competitive performance expected by stakeholders.

Coordinate and complete projects on time, within budget, and within scope; set deadlines, assign responsibilities, monitor progress, and prepare status reports for upper management.

Lead project teams (engineers, operations, construction, vendors) to ensure all project aspects are considered: scope selection, safety, environmental, construction, operations, and reliability.

Effectively manage costs and schedules to drive toward best-in-industry performance.

Develop comprehensive project execution plans focused on scope, cost, schedule, risk management, engineering, procurement, and construction.

Communicate capital project status to various stakeholders within the organization.

Apply earned decision rights and project management experience to create value and ensure expected quality and competitive performance.

Identify opportunities for value creation and innovation in project management work processes.

Develop, challenge, and review mechanical engineering designs and apply structured mechanical design methods to develop on-site solutions; review vendor drawings and reports.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

Mechanical engineering background.

PMP certification or project management MBA with proven application.

Substantial experience with capital projects and plant operation.

Experience with mechanical utilities and maintenance and a strong commitment to EH&S and Quality.

Advanced English proficiency.
